Our standards

  • Sources

We only use primary or authoritative sources: NRC, WSAVA, Merck Veterinary Manual, AAHA, AAFP, AVSAB, CAPC, peer-reviewed journals and national kennel or cat clubs. Every tool lists its sources.

  • Accuracy

Formulas are unit-tested against independent calculations. Where the science gives a range, we show a range instead of false precision.

  • Veterinary review

Health, nutrition, breeding and safety tools are reviewed by a licensed veterinarian before publication and at least every 6 months. Each page shows that it was reviewed and when.

  • AI use

We may use AI to draft or code. A human edits every page and a vet reviews health content. No page is published unedited.

  • Independence

Advertising and affiliate partners never influence formulas or results.

  • Corrections

Report an error and we respond within 5 working days. Material corrections are logged on the page.

What we never publish

  • Medication dosage calculators
  • Diagnosis or symptom checkers
  • “Safe amounts” of substances with no established safe dose
