CalcuPaw builds free calculators that help pet owners make everyday decisions — how much to feed, how old their pet is in human years, when a litter is due — using the same formulas veterinarians and veterinary nutritionists use.
How our tools are made
- We start from primary sources: the National Research Council (NRC 2006), WSAVA Global Nutrition Guidelines, the Merck Veterinary Manual, AAHA/AAFP guidelines and peer-reviewed studies.
- Every formula is implemented once, tested against independently calculated examples, and shown on the page with its source.
- A licensed veterinarian reviews every health-related tool before it is marked as reviewed, and again at least every 6 months. All current tools were reviewed on 18 October 2026; each page shows its last review date.
Veterinary review
A licensed veterinarian reviews every health-related calculator. Each calculator shows when it was last reviewed, and any new calculator is marked “veterinary review pending” and kept out of search engines until it has been checked and signed off. See how veterinary review works.
