How we calculate it

Understanding your result
A dog walker's cost is the walks per week times the price per walk. Five walks a week at US$20 each is US$100 a week. Multiply by 52 for a year, US$5,200, and divide that by 12 for a month, about US$433.
The monthly figure uses 52 ÷ 12 weeks, about 4.33, so twelve months add up to the yearly figure.
Use it to compare walkers or to see whether fewer walks a week would fit your budget. Group and solo walks are priced differently, so enter each quote in turn.
Common mistakes
- Using four weeks as a month and under-counting the yearly cost.
- Forgetting holidays or tips.
- Comparing a short walk and a long walk at the same price.
- Ignoring cancellation fees.
- Not asking whether the price covers a key or a second dog.
Good to know
- Ask the walker about insurance and how they handle emergencies.
- Meet the walker and your dog before you book.
- Add the result to the Monthly Pet Budget Calculator.
